Terms of membership
The agreement between you and The Locality Network, in plain language.
Last updated October 16, 2026. These terms apply when you create an account, apply for membership or become a member. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
Your account
- An account is for one person, who must be an adult. Use your real name and accurate details.
- Keep your password to yourself. Turn on two-factor login in your account for extra protection.
- A free account lets you keep a basic profile and apply for membership.
Applying
- Membership is by application. Our team reviews every applicant and may call you before the committee decides.
- We may place an application on a waitlist or decline it, and we don't always give a reason.
- If you're approved, we send you a private offer that sets out your membership level and its price. It's for you alone and can be accepted for seven days.
Paying and renewing
- You pay through Stripe or PayPal when you accept your offer. We never see or store your card details.
- Your membership renews automatically at the end of each period, monthly or yearly as set out in your offer, at the price you agreed, until you cancel. We email you before each renewal.
- You can cancel at any time from Account › Billing. Your membership continues until the end of the period you've already paid for, and it doesn't renew after that.
- Monthly memberships paid by card can also be paused for one to three months from the same page.
- Fees already paid aren't refunded, except where the law requires it or your offer says otherwise.
Being a member
- Treat other members with respect, at events and in messages.
- Keep the network private. Don't share other members' information, posts or messages outside it, and don't copy the directory, the public one included.
- Don't use the network to send unsolicited sales messages or bulk messages.
- Follow each event's arrangements, including its guest limits. You're responsible for the guests you bring.
Ending a membership
You can cancel as described above. We may suspend or end a membership if a member breaks these terms or puts other members at risk. If we end a membership for any other reason, we refund the unused part of the period you've paid for.
Our responsibility
We work hard to vet members and run good events, but we can't guarantee how any introduction, meeting or deal turns out. Decisions you make with other members are your own. Events are attended at your own risk.
Changes and law
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell members by email before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
